Our Family’s Favorites

First off, as we pulled up and checked in to get our keys, we were greeted by one of the owners, Steph, who is an absolute gem! The Lantry’s have been in ownership for years, and the love poured into their resort/cabins shows. Where We Stayed

We stayed in the Goldfinch Cabin. Absolutely loved it! Our cabin has four bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. It’s the perfect size and layout for families. It has the true authentic Swedish log cabin build. This cabin is tucked away from from the main area, but it’s still walking distance to main beach. It’s the perfect place to escape reality, take in the beautiful views from uptop of Lake Vermilion, and truly unwind! We felt so refreshed after our stay here.

The master bedroom upstairs has the best view and it’s own private deck to sip your morning coffee. The large deck is perfect for grilling with the whole family with comfy chairs overlooking the lake. The bonfire pit is right off the deck with lots of space. We spent one whole day keeping a campfire going and it was one of my favorite days. The weather was cold and drizzly but we had the fire going and the smell just allowed our whole family to slow down and relax.

The kids loved going up and down the stairs from the cabin to the dock. We fished and took a pontoon out one day. If you haven’t cruised around on Lake Vermilion, this is me telling me, you need to! The views are stunning. There is truly nothing like it. Northern MN is absolutely breathtaking! The water was a little chilly the weekend we were up there, so we didn’t do any tubing with the kids, but we did try some fishing. No luck for us! Two cabins down from us had a lot of good luck with the fish that weekend though! Lake Vermilion is known for great fishing. With three little ones, we didn’t have quite as much time to go out and fish

Our Favorite Activities

We enjoyed playing at the beach in the sand, the kids loved jumping on the water trampoline, water slide and more. Brooke tried to do the kayak but didn’t get too far, we will have to work on that Nolan loved all the trucks and Cam loved just crawling around and in and out of water. They have everything you need, just bring your towels and life jackets (they do have those available as well). Enjoying the lake and nature is simply such a gift and White Eagle has the perfect layout to do that!

There is a private park with sand toys and diggers that our kids loved to play at each morning and evening. Everything is walking distance from your cabin, so it was so nice to make a cup of coffee or grab a drink from the fridge, and walk from one area to the next. The path leads through the woods from cabin to cabin, it’s so fun.

We had a couple cool/rainy days so we took in and enjoyed the Game Room. There is ping pong, pool, foosball, couches to hang out, etc. It’s the perfect set up for a rainy day! There is something special and cozy about being a cabin even if it’s rainy. We just played games, had the fireplace going inside and outside, danced in the rain, and enjoyed simply slowing down and being in nature.

Enjoy hiking? There is a private wooded path you can go on for a family stroll.

Booking Information

White Eagle was hands down one of our family’s favorite. It truly is the ultimate Minnesota family resort. There is something for all ages, and it’s a place you can get away to escape reality and come back feeling refreshed. My husband and I both said it was the first time all summer we felt like we truly slowed down and relaxed.

They book out almost a year in advance, so if you’re looking, I suggest you do it sooner rather than later With 16 cabin options, there is something for everyone! Features

The HovCity comes equipped with a lot of features that you don’t typically see in a city bike.
The really nice added feature includes the fenders on both the front and rear wheels to help you
keep dry on a rainy day. What’s really nice about this bike is that it is IP4 waterproof. You can
ride our Hovsco bikes in the rain or through a puddle.

At the back of the bike, the rear rack can support up to 50 lbs of cargo. The front of the bike
comes equipped with a sleek LCD headlight that can shine a path up to 2 meters long. The front
also includes an LCD display that provides additional information while riding, including
Speedometer, Odometer, Trip Odometer, Average Speed, Max Speed, and Pedal Assist (PAS).

Assembly

The HovCity Step-Thru Cruiser was extremely easy to assemble. Like most full-size, non-
folding models, it comes mostly assembled with only a few easy steps remaining to complete the
process. It comes with a nice Hovsco multi-tool bag that contains all of the tools needed for your assembly and the user manual is easy to follow.

Ride

One of the main reasons my family and I wanted to get an e-bike is not only due to the active
lifestyle that we live but also because they offer a number of benefits over traditional bikes. They
are environmentally friendly, cost-effective, and easy to use. They also offer a more enjoyable
and comfortable commuting experience, as they assist with pedaling and make it easier to tackle
hills and headwinds, which is a must with three kids, especially with the bike trailer hooked up. We can take all three kids, which has been a game changer! One seat fits on the back, and then the trailer on the tail. We use the Burley Dash RM for the seat on Hovsco’s Rear Rack, and Schwinn double trailer for the other two kids.

Versatile

We can take the HovCity E-bike in many different ways. We take it around the city downtown, riding into work, a joy ride in the neighborhood, around the trails by the lake, dropping kids off at school, or my favorite taking it to the grocery store. You can purchase a front basket for your groceries, or put them in the back trailer like I do. The HovCity is a perfect way to get around for many different reasons. Whether with all the kids, or solo, we have loved having this as basically our second form of transportation.

The Wilderness Resort in Wisconsin Dells is a must-visit waterpark getaway for the whole family to enjoy. We had so much fun and look forward to the next time we go. As of 2022, The Wilderness received a whole revamp! The resort completed renovations to all of its 446 guest rooms at the Wilderness Hotel, along with new slides & play structures in the Wild West, new films playing at the Take Flight theater, and more.

Check out my YouTube video showing the newly revamped rooms. We stayed in the main hotel, but The Wilderness has several places to stay. There is the main Wilderness Hotel & Golf Resort, Wilderness on the Lake, and Glacier Canyon Lodge at the Wilderness. The Wilderness has so many different indoor and outdoor waterparks, allowing you to enjoy a family getaway all year round. Midwest winters can feel long, but this is the perfect escape for some fun in the water & warmth without having to fly anywhere.

Waterparks

During the winter season, there are four indoor parks. WaterDome, Klondike Kavern, Wild West & Cubby’s Cove. The WaterDome, Klondike Kavern & Wild West are all within the main Wilderness Resort Hotel and Cubby’s Cove is over at the Wilderness on the Lake. They have shuttle buses running every 15 minutes to transport you to and from all waterparks. Our family’s favorite are the WaterDome & Cubby’s Cove.

Inside the WaterDome is the nation’s largest indoor wave pool. Between that and the see-through roof that bathes the entire park, you truly feel as if you are someplace tropical. If you’re a margarita lover (such as myself), the WaterDome has a pretty cool swim up bar and great margaritas! Our kids loved the Mini Mammoths Cove ‘zero-depth’ play lagoon inside the WaterDome. It’s for the smaller ones with water jets, spraying fountains & slides. This year both the older two were big enough to go down the The Dueling Mammoths family raft ride with Steve and loved it (video below).

Our second favorite is Cubby’s Cove. This waterpark is geared more towards younger children, and located inside Wilderness on the Lake. You take a shuttle from the main lodge to get here. Nolan thought it was SO fun to ride the mini bus! Since all our kids are under five years of age, this was our favorite spot. The views from the hot tub (it goes outside) at Cubby’s Cove are absolutely stunning of the lake! Don’t forget to grab yourself a margarita to enjoy while relaxing. Our kids enjoyed the water slides, large lily pads with climbing net, the water slide, and the pool with the basketball hoops the best (some pictured below). Food

Breakfast in the main lodge at Camp Social is always a must. They serve a family-style breakfast buffet that has something for everyone & it’s very tasty! The Coffee Canteen is my favorite and I look forward to getting an iced latte to keep up with the day The kids love their smoothies (made with real fruit, too). Camp Social also serves delicious tacos, nachos, burgers, and more!

My personal favorite is The Candy Cabin. Every day fresh chocolates are made. We always stock up on chocolate covered strawberries, truffles, and more. You can’t leave without getting some goodie bags to bring home!

There are many more restaurants, snacks, ice cream, mini donut food truck, and more spread throughout the Wilderness. To see all the options, click here. All the food is great and you can’t go wrong with anything you choose.

Wanting to venture outside the resort? We ate at one evening Field’s Premiere Steakhouse and the filet mignon was amazing! Highly recommend and it’s just a short five-minute drive from the main resort.

Attractions

Of course The Wilderness is known for the water activities, but there are many more non water activities for the whole family to do. We enjoyed Mega Prize Arcades (check out the YouTube video for footage on the arcade), the Timberland Playhouse (which is included in your stay), and Brooklynn and I had so much fun now that she was old enough to go on the Wildwoods Go-Kart Trail. Most of the attractions you will need to purchase the fun pass in order to get access. When booking or checking-in the front desk staff will help you get your passes.

Have older kids? There is a giant ropes course, laser tag, mini golf, pottery, you can’t forget to go to the Take Flight Theater that allows you to ride and get the sensation of flying as you watch and travel through different parts of the world twisting and turning on a GIGANTIC 65′ wide x 48′ tall screen!

We love making these chicken salad cucumber boats. They are such an easy and quick lunch idea to make sure you’re getting your veggies & protein in.

What You Need:

• 1 large English cucumber
• 1/2 red bell pepper
• 1/4 cup red onion
• 4 dill pickles
• 1/4 cup banana peppers
• salt & pepper
• avocado mayo (Primal Kitchen is the brand I use)
• 1 can chicken (or tuna)

How to Make:

First, chop up red bell pepper, onion, pickles, & banana peppers finely and put into a mixing bowl.

Second, drain water from can of chicken and add to bowl. Add 1 Tbsp of mayo. Sprinkle in some salt & pepper to your liking plus a splash of pickle juice from pickle jar. Mix everything in bowl.

Third, cut cucumber in half the long way, and then into 4 slices. Spoon out the inside.

Lastly, place salad inside cucumber boats with a spoon & enjoy! Hope you enjoy these yummy chicken salad cucumber boats as much as we do!

Looking for some new swimwear & beach essentials for you and your family? If you’re headed to the beach, whether for Spring Break or getting ready for summer season, these items have all been a game changer for us at the beach. I did SO much research on what the best beach/sand cart is and I found it! A year later, and it’s still brand new and we love it! We pull both our kids in the utility cart (pictured above) along with a large bag in there, too. Hands down a great cart for the beach! It pulls great through the sand and fits quite a bit!

Are you looking to book a family vacation right off the beach? Look no further! This blog post is for you. TradeWinds Island Grand Resort is a fantastic beach front resort! Did I mention that it’s right off the ocean? Well, it is Not just any beach either. It’s off of St. Pete’s Beach, FL which happens to be one of the most beautiful beaches in Florida. The water is that beautiful ocean blue/green color and the sand is so soft and white. Truly is paradise. My family and I stayed for a weekend here and had an absolute blast! The weather was a little bit of bummer (we did go in early February) with it only being in the 60’s for two days, but we did have one day of 80 and sunny! Weather aside, there was plenty to do and we all greatly enjoyed our stay.

TradeWinds Island Grand has so much to offer. I could honestly go on about it for days, but I’ll break it down below of why this is the perfect family vacation spot. So here it goes, my top ten reasons why.

The Beach is Beautiful

Coming from being born and raised in the midwest, and now living in Northern Florida, beaches were always a big deal and beautiful to me. With that being said, St. Pete’s Beach is a lot more tropical with the blues and greens with the true white sand. If you’re looking for that “true tropical feel”, that’s what this was. It’s a truly a fantastic beachfront resort. Who doesn’t love being right off the beach? I highly recommend getting yourself a cabana, too. Gives you and your family some shade from the sun while still enjoying that gorgeous view! Our kids had fun playing in the sand while Steve & I caught a couple second break to sip on some margs

Friendly Staff

From check in to check out, I was SO impressed with all the staff. Even when walking around the resort, if you passed by someone who worked there, they would say Hello and ask how you were doing. I love that! You don’t get that everywhere. The waiters, waitresses, barista at the Starbucks, the lady at the snack shop inside, the guy at the check in gate, the parking staff, & house keepers were all so friendly. We were treated well and felt cared for.

Multiple Pools & Hot Tubs

Our room viewed the main beachfront pool. There is another pool located in the middle of Island Grand with a little kiddie pool and hot tub with it. Looking to stay without kids? There is an adult only pool over off the beach front! There are hot tubs at each pool which is really nice! We only swam in the main beachfront pool. They do lots of fun activities & tunes, plus they have a fun inflatable big screen they play movies in the evening on at the beachfront pool. All pools are heated which came in handy when it was cooler out we could still go swimming!

Spacious Rooms with Great Views

We stayed in the Tropical One Bedroom Suite. This was such a great set up if your a family of four-six. There is a separate room with two queen size beds. The couch does pull out to a full size bed, too! Was nice to have a separate living space and kitchen. Steve and I were able to watch a movie at night while the kids slept. Having a mini kitchen is always nice! When you travel with kids, or even without kids, its nice to have the option to make some meals/snacks in your room. Plus, I don’t know about you, but having a full size fridge was soooo nice The views from our room were nice, too! We overlooked the edge of the ocean and the pool. Was fun to sit out on the balcony and watch the sun set. TradeWinds has many styles of rooms and suites for every budget, too! Excellent Food

There are several places to eat and we were very pleased with all of them! I started my morning off getting a latte in the main lobby where they serve Starbucks. Once all the kids were up and ready, we had our breakfast over at Bermudas Breakfast. The Just Let Go Omelet is sooo good & the kids loved the Mickey shaped pancake with chocolate chips

For lunch we ate at the Flying Bridge and their shrimp app was very tasty. The second day I had their Spicy Chicken Wrap and that was fantastic! The kids enjoyed the french fries lol. For dinner, if you want more formal head on over to the Palm Court Italian Grill (reservations highly recommended) located near the main lobby. Another highlight for us was the ice cream shop & Pizza Hut Express right inside the Breckenridge building. The ice cream is homemade from Yoder’s Southern Creamery & it’s soooo good! There are other “grab & go” options on TradeWinds site we didn’t get to as well.

Close to RumFish Grill

TradeWinds sister resort, Rumfish, which is just beach walking distance or sidewalk on street side, there is the award wining restaurant called Rumfish Grill. That’s where we went for dinner and it was fantastic. Not only was our food amazing, but they are known for their 33,500-gallon aquarium that’s featured on Animal Planet’s Tanked. We had a table right in front of the tank and the kids went nuts! Brooke loved it! Highly recommend eating there & make sure you make a reservation by the tank. Don’t forget to try their cheesecake, too! We ended up getting it to go, ’cause toddlers lol, but it was such a treat to eat back in the room once they went to bed. Fantastic Drinks

I don’t know about ya’ll, but when I am on vacation, I love me a good margarita on the beach. At home I’m usually a red wine gal, but vacation I love all the fruity drinks! Steve enjoyed the Bloody Mary’s, I enjoyed the margs and mimosas. All the restaurants & beach bars served great drinks & the bartenders were all so friendly. Of course they have plenty of non-alcoholic beverages, too! My kids lived off their OJ and water lol.

Tons of Activities

Honestly, with the beach, ocean, and pool you’re already set to have a good time! But there are so many other activities to do here. Due to weather we weren’t able to try some of the activities, but the paddle boats are so fun! There is a little river that goes around Island Grand, its super cool. They had pool side arts and crafts tables for the kids. Brooke didn’t want to try it, she just wanted to live in the pool lol. There is giant inflated water slide right on the beach that is so cool (pictured below). We didn’t get the chance to go because of the weather, but it looks so fun! Close to Attractions

TradeWinds is in such a nice location. It’s quiet and private backed up to the ocean, but on the front side you can access sidewalks to many shops & restaurants.

Clean & Great Service

I don’t know about you, but half of being on vacation is having someone else clean up my bathroom towels and make the bed. Where my moms at? lol The best feeling is walking into your room after being out all day and it was picked up, cleaned, fresh towels hanging and bed was made. Legit made Steve and I sigh and smile. Or maybe we are just getting old Either way—the rooms and house keeping service was excellent!

Legoland Florida is a must family visit. It’s a fun family vacation spot. We had the chance to spend a day at Legoland Florida—and we wish we would’ve had a good couple days. I would highly recommend at least doing a weekend here so you can truly take in everything. Luckily, we are only a couple hours away, so we plan to go again. There is so much to do, and there is something for all ages! My kids enjoyed the waterpark area the best, but they have a whole theme park area that looked really fun! Of course, lego statues are everywhere, and they are all so cool and impressive. Whether you have toddlers or older kids, you will have so much fun!

Some Highlights from our visit:

• DUPLO Safari with many interactive water-play animal structures & small water slide. This was Nolan’s favorite!
• Build-a-Raft Lazy River —the kids had fun stacking all the large lego pieces

What’s inside DUPLO area?

They have a whole splash & play area, A Tot Spot where you can build towers and free play with large Duplo Legos. There is a shaded play area just for tots too called Technic Tot Spot. Don’t forget to hop on the The Grand Carousel as a family before leaving!

We enjoyed strolling through the whole MINILAND USA. It was one of the most incredible and iconic thing I have seen! People have designed big well known cities, like Hollywood Bowl, Giffith Observatory, the Golden Gate Bridge, Daytona International Speedway, Key West, Antebellum Mansions, the Kennedy Space Center and SO MUCH MORE! It was really cool! It’s also all shaded, so it’s a nice way to cool off

What to Bring With You

It’s a very large and spread out Resort. You will do lots of walking so, if you have stroller aged kids, do NOT forget it. I was so glad we had our double stroller. Wagon would be a great idea, too. Bring a separate change of clothes if you plan to do the waterpark (which is what we spent the most time in). They have nice big and clean changing rooms where you can change into your swim suits and out of when your done. Don’t forget your beach towels! We forgot to bring ours since we were staying at resort in Disney, but don’t fret, they have a store right in the same area as the splash zone where you can buy some Once you leave the waterpark area, you can’t walk around in your swimwear, so plan to bring a change of clothes. They do provide life vests for your little ones. Just don’t forget your sunscreen! I mean, it is Florida

Extra Services Legoland Offers

The have a Baby Care Center, which I think is so cool. There is an area you can nurse, change, warm up your bottle and more! For more information click here.

They have food concessions throughout the parks. In the Water Park they have Beach Street Tacos & Beach-n-Brick Grill. In the Theme Park they have: Burger Kitchen, Dragon’s Den, Firehouse Ice Cream, Fun Town Pizza & Pasta Buffet, Fun Town Slushies, Funnel Cake Factory, Granny’s Apple Fries, and Heartlake Ice Cream Parlor, and more!

Where to Stay

You can stay right in the heart of Legoland! There are a couple different options. There is Pirate Island Hotel, Legoland Hotel, and Beach Retreat. You can find details on the rooms and packages here.

Legoland Florida is such a fun family destination vacation spot. We can’t wait to go back!

• Carry- on bag covers for strollers/car seats ** our car seat bag is awesome! Steven & I both wore one on our back. This way your hands are free for your luggage/kids/stroller**

• Coloring supplies—we love the mess free color wonder markers/paper from Crayola. This way you don’t have to worry about any mess of makers

Ten Reasons Why We Loved This Resort

The Staff is Excellent

They were all so nice, professional, smiley, and helpful. From check-in to check-out we were blown away. Truly haven’t had a better staff anywhere!

It is Beautiful

From the moment you pull up, and walk into the lobby you’re in awe. The rooms are really nice, too. We had a double queen with bunk beds and it was so nice with the kids to have a little nook separated from them. Head on over to my Instagram page and check out the reel I made for a room tour! The restaurants, spa, pools and walking path with the lake and water fountain in the middle is an absolute dream.

Close to Disney

It is less than 5 miles away from Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Epcot, and Animal Kingdom! They also provide a free shuttle to and from to make things easy & convenient. Enjoy your day out at the parks and come back to play some more or simply relax! You’ll want to make sure you spend at least a couple days just soaking up everything this resort has to offer!

The Food is Amazing

Breakfast, lunch, dinner—all five stars! You can enjoy a full course breakfast at Tesoro Cove before headed out for the day at Disney, and then come back for a great dinner at the Deep Blu. Simply enjoy a small breakfast at the Barista with a Starbucks latte, or head on down to Tesoro Cove for a sit down buffet style with endless options served with some mimosas for the adults Sticking around for lunch? Make sure you head to the Back Bay Pool Bar & Grill. They had some of the best guacamole and quesadillas I have had in a long time & their margaritas did not disappoint

For dinner, make sure you make reservations at The Deep Blu. Our servers, hostesses, and chef were fantastic! I would recommend starting off with their charcuterie board & caesar salad. Then for your main dish, the Grouper dish was to die for (pictured below). Oh, and don’t forget! There is a fresh ice cream bar at the Barista any time of the day

Did Someone Say Room Service?

Wiped out from Disney or just simply swimming all day? Or maybe you just want to take a bath & stay in your robe. Or if you have a little one who wakes earlier than the rest, (cough cough Nolan at 5:30 am) get breakfast #1 before you all go for breakfast later. You can enjoy food and drinks with their 24 hour In-Room service delivered right to your room! This is always a must for us when we stay somewhere

Outdoor Park & Mini golf

The have a park the kids can play on to get some wiggles out. Its fenced in and has nice views of the lake. Was perfect for my kids after breakfast to play while we sipped on some coffee. They also have a miniature golf course that looked fun! We didn’t get the chance to try it, but it was busy with lots of families having a great time. Perfect for grade school kids and older!

Gorgeous Views & Fireworks

This was a highlight. We arrived at the resort in the evening and once stepping into our room, the view from our window was so beautiful! It was all lit up around the pools and the lake with the water fountains. They also had fireworks go off in the distance around 10pm which was really fun! During the day the views are so pretty, too. All the palm trees, plants, and Bird of Paradise flowers truly make it feel like vacation. There are cozy chair swings located all along the walking path. It’s a perfect spot to cozy up whatever time of day it is!

Endless Water Fun

With a splash pad, 5 pools, 8 hot tubs & 2 lazy rivers you can’t get bored. The splash pad & lagoon style pool is perfect for toddlers! They have a little slide and many other water spouts making for a fun day in the water. There are 5 pools total, one in front of each resort and you have access to all of them (just don’t forget to bring the provided towels from your resort with you!) The pools are all a little different making there something for every age and stage. The big pirate ship with the water slide and lazy river is so cool!

Adults–with all the hot tubs it’s perfect to cozy up in the evening next to the fire pits around the corner from the hot tubs. Add a glass of wine or your favorite cocktail and you have a picture perfect evening Besides all the lovely pools and water activities, there is a life size connect four that the kids loved playing with. They also have bags or corn hole (depends who you’re asking for the name on that one) right next to the pool & a ping-pong table beneath the look out tower area.

Walking Path Around Lake

We loved walking around seeing all the fun things to do. The lake has beautiful koi fish, ducks, exotic birds, and some snakes and gators too You don’t swim in it, but it was sure beautiful to look at and walk by! Whether you have little kids like us and go for stroller rides, or start your morning off jogging, this path is such a family friendly set up. There is some history of Bonnet Creek and the look out tower that’s cool, too. Below the look out tower there is a ping pong table below it if you’re looking to play a couple games of that.

Indoor Fun

From the sexy & speakeasy style bar to the fun arcade, there is something for everyone! You can’t forget the Spa, too! We enjoyed some cocktails in the fun lounge chairs. It was a little rainy the last day we were there, so we spent some time at the arcade on the lower level. The kids had fun riding the motorcycles and shooting some hoops and just simply running around pushing buttons with the ages they are lol. Older kids would enjoy the games differently though They also have a spa were you can get away and relax! I didn’t have time to do this with the kids, but next time this momma will get a massage
