Favorite Winter Gear for Babies & Toddlers

It’s snowing already and it’s only October 20th—what?!? Honestly, being born & raised in the midwest states (Minnesota & Michigan) I am so use to the cold and look forward to the snow! I am one of the few that lives here in MN & loves the snow and cold 😉

Anyway, I wanted to share my favorite winter gear with you all! I’ve tried MANY different brands throughout the years for myself, and the last couple years baby & kid brands. Below are my top favorites!

For Babies & Toddlers: I have messed around with separate snow pants and jackets, but honestly, if your kiddo is under age 3, snowsuit is the way to go! You don’t have to worry about snow getting under the jacket or down their coat. Keeps them snuggly warm whether they are be pulled around in a sled or playing in the snow. I’ve also found snowsuits to be a lot easier to take on and off. Whether you need to change a diaper, have your toddler use the potty, or pack it in the car. It’s also easier for both moms and daycare providers to get your kiddo dressed. Most snowsuits I have seen go up to size 4T.

My personal favorite: I LOVE the LL Bean Cold Buster snowsuits for toddlers. They are under $80 for the suit, making it still affordable, but amazing quality. Brooke will actually get two years out of the one I bought her last year. I sized up one size with her hoping to squeeze another year out of it 😉 Just rolled the bottom a little last year, and now it will last this winter, too! Perfect for playing outside in the snow! I also love the thin North Face jackets for toddlers and kids. It’s thin enough they can wear it in their carseat when you’re out and about, but also keeps them warm! Those are under $50 and worth every penny! BUT–if you’re looking for something more affordable, we have loved the Columbia fleece zip-ups for wearing in and out of the car, too. I would size up one size if your looking for it last the full season. Click link below to directly shop all zip-ups!

Baby Favorite: Another great snowsuit option for babies (under one yr. of age) is Gap’s Baby Cold Control UltraMax Snowsuit. This will keep your little babe warm for those extra cold winter days you are outside. Great quality! Nolan will be sporting this one often this winter 🙂 This is also under $100. Which brings me to my next baby suit recommendation: LL Bean’s Hi-Pile Baby Fleece Bunting. This is warm, but thin enough for them to wear it in the carseat. Great for running errands, and super easy to just slip them in one piece and go! The quality is great and keeps well even after a million washes. Brooke loved hers, and now we have one for Nolan! Hats, Gloves, & Mittens—Honestly, you can get a good pair of these pretty much anywhere! My favorite are the hat and mitten sets by Cat & Jack at Target, Carhartt Beanies, C.C. Beanies, and for adults I LOVE the North Face Mittens if you’re going to be spending a lot of time outside. They are the one kind that has kept my hands warm no matter what! Personally, I prefer mittens over gloves for when I am outside with the kids. Keeps your hands warmer being together. I buy mittens for the kids, too (well Brooke anyway, Nolan will be in a snowsuit with hands covered). Click link for all beanies listed above!

Boots: Nolan isn’t walking so no boots needed for him this year! For Brooke I bought some from Nordstrom’s Rack this year. I have bought many different brands in boots. Sorels, North Face, and now this year we are trying a new brand! I like to buy one pair for playing in the snow, and another that are easy to slip on for running errands and quick trips! Click link below for the boots I bought Brooke this year.

Another great and affordable option for all things winter gear is Costco & Facebook Marketplace if you really want to stay on a budget! 🙂

There are SO many great options, I simply just wanted to share some of my personal favorites! Stay warm & healthy this winter, friends!

Much love, Kiersten
